Azura Benguerra Island
HOTEL OVERVIEW
Imagine an unspoilt island within a Marine National Park, deserted beaches of pure white sand that extend for miles, sparkling turquoise seas crisscrossed by local dhows plying their trade, sunny days and star-studded nights. This is the enchanting island escape you always imagined. Azura Benguerra, the first eco-friendly resort in Mozambique, was hand-built by the local community and is operated in partnership with it.
Just 20 villas are nestled along one of the last undiscovered stretches of beach in the world, with all the creature comforts you could wish for, sparkling private pools, Mozambican butler-hosts to look after your every need, fish and seafood fresh from the ocean, a fantastic range of activities and experiences, an African spa to relax in, all at a community based project where the local islanders benefit as much as you. Azura Benguerra Island is paradise found.
Azura Benguerra Island's public areas are right on the beach and open to the sea. The team have created several different zones for your enjoyment and relaxation, from the comfortable lounge area, to the vibey Star Bar, and the fabulous wine cellar offering a selection of the owner’s wines, especially flown in from their Chateau in France. The Jellyfish Restaurant offers breakfast and more formal dining. There is a media room for those needing TV and internet access, a boutique at reception, and our Padi 5 Star dive centre with top of the range Scubapro equipment.

What To Pack
As a guide, the maximum weight for checked luggage is 20kg in economy class and 30kg in business class. Your hand-luggage should not weigh more than 6kg and needs to be small and compact.
Take along your best beach and casual wear, perfect for the day. A light rain jacket might come in handy in the event of the occasional rain shower. Sunglasses and suntan lotion are a must. Flip flops, sun hat and a beach bag. If you’re planning on adventuring around the island (there’s so much more to see and do outside of your hotel!) be sure to pack a pair of comfy walking shoes, and lots of suncream!
-
Take Your Own
Don’t forget any medication that you might need, and be sure to pack it in your hand luggage.
Chargers for all your devices (it’s a good idea to take along a few movies on a tablet or something similar as the English TV channels in your hotel may be limited).
Take along your own goggles & snorkels – even though your resort will have this equipment available free of charge or to hire, you’ll probably be happier having your own.
Mosquito repellent. An underwater camera is a great idea.

Travel Tips
Pack a change of clothing in your hand luggage in case of baggage delays (and a spare cozzie so at least you can have a swim when you get to your resort). No sharp objects are permitted in your hand luggage (yes, tweezers are sharp!). Put electronics, medication, toothbrushes and jewellery in your carry-on bag.
Travel insurance is a must. If you can’t afford it, you can’t afford to travel! Travelling with kids – please check that you have all the relevant documents including unabridged Birth Certificates.
It’s often a good idea to let your bank or credit card company know that you’re travelling outside of the country.
