Gold Zanzibar Beach House & Spa

HOTEL OVERVIEW

Gold Zanzibar is a relatively big (in terms of being spaced out), stylish resort situated directly on Kendwa’s famous beach… which is unaffected by the tides and therefore ideal for swimming at any time! Built on a wide area of property, Gold Zanzibar Beach House & Spa includes just 75 rooms allowing guests to enjoy maximum of privacy and relax.

The hotel features various room types, each meeting different needs, but all providing wide spaces in an intimate and relaxing atmosphere. Its architecture is a mix of African and Arab influences translated according to contemporary design.

Common areas are open and bright, allowing for views of well-maintained gardens sprawling across the hotel grounds. The lobby has a small book-exchange library and a number of tan-leather sofas. Large beams support the soaring wood ceilings in the bright, airy space.

Restaurants are likewise open and decorated with lots of wicker, wood, and cool beiges. Sunlight streams through dramatic wall cutouts into one dining room, while numerous tables sit outside on the sand. The open-air Sultan Bar is particularly stylish and suited to date nights, with rich leather-tufted chairs, and romantic lanterns dangling from the ceiling. The result is a place of simple beauty, full of charm.

Useful Info

  • What To Pack

As a guide, the maximum weight for checked luggage is 20kg in economy class and 30kg in business class. Your hand-luggage should not weigh more than 6kg and needs to be small and compact.

Take along your best beach and casual wear, perfect for the day. A light rain jacket might come in handy in the event of the occasional rain shower. Sunglasses and suntan lotion are a must. Flip flops, sun hat and a beach bag. If you’re planning on adventuring around the island (there’s so much more to see and do outside of your hotel!) be sure to pack a pair of comfy walking shoes, and lots of suncream!

  • Take Your Own

Don’t forget any medication that you might need, and be sure to pack it in your hand luggage.

Chargers for all your devices (it’s a good idea to take along a few movies on a tablet or something similar as the English TV channels in your hotel may be limited).

Take along your own goggles & snorkels – even though your resort will have this equipment available free of charge or to hire, you’ll probably be happier having your own.

Mosquito repellent. An underwater camera is a great idea.

  • Travel Tips

Pack a change of clothing in your hand luggage in case of baggage delays (and a spare cozzie so at least you can have a swim when you get to your resort). No sharp objects are permitted in your hand luggage (yes, tweezers are sharp!). Put electronics, medication, toothbrushes and jewellery in your carry-on bag.

Travel insurance is a must. If you can’t afford it, you can’t afford to travel! Travelling with kids – please check that you have all the relevant documents including unabridged Birth Certificates.

It’s often a good idea to let your bank or credit card company know that you’re going overseas.
