Princess Bora Lodge - Île Sainte-Marie
HOTEL OVERVIEW
A charming lodge, allying luxury and wild nature in a typically tropical environment, the Princesse Bora Lodge & Spa is a warm and boutique-sized hotel. It is located on Sainte-Marie Island, at the East of Madagascar.
Graduate of The Architecture school of Paris La Villette in April 1996, Sophie Démichilis specializes in Ecological Habitat. With international experience, especially in Senegal where she contributed to the design of a hospital, she built Princesse Bora and created this beautiful place in 1999.
The 20 villas are integrated into a green setting and built in natural materials: cut stone, rosewood, traditional rooftop made with dried leaves, the “ravimpotsy”.
Inspired by African traditions, the Jungle Spa is an impluvium round house inside the lodge. Its circular central roof collects rainwater whose benefits are useful for our treatments. The term “Jungle” refers to Sainte-Marie’s lush nature, known for its endemic plants. A unique experience awaits you in this serene and intimate place. Start with a revitalizing citrus bath in a traditional pirogue. Continue with a wild honey body scrub which softens skin. Complete with a relaxing massage with ivahona oils. All products are home made with plants to give you tonus and health.
Princesse Bora Lodge & Spa is an Eco touristic destination.

What To Pack
As a guide, the maximum weight for checked luggage is 20kg in economy class and 30kg in business class. Your hand-luggage should not weigh more than 6kg and needs to be small and compact.
Take along your best beach and casual wear, perfect for the day. A light rain jacket might come in handy in the event of the occasional rain shower. Sunglasses and suntan lotion are a must. Flip flops, sun hat and a beach bag. If you’re planning on adventuring around the area (there’s so much more to see and do outside of your lodge/hotel!) be sure to pack a pair of comfy walking shoes, and lots of suncream!
-
Take Your Own
Don’t forget any medication that you might need, and be sure to pack it in your hand luggage.
Chargers for all your devices (it’s a good idea to take along a few movies on a tablet or something similar as the English TV channels in your hotel may be limited).
Take along your own goggles & snorkels – even though some properties have this equipment available free of charge or to hire, you’ll probably be happier having your own.
Mosquito repellent. An underwater camera is a great idea.

Travel Tips
Pack a change of clothing in your hand luggage in case of baggage delays (and a spare cozzie so at least you can have a swim when you get to your final destination). No sharp objects are permitted in your hand luggage (yes, tweezers are sharp!). Put electronics, medication, toothbrushes and jewellery in your carry-on bag.
Travel insurance is a must. If you can’t afford it, you can’t afford to travel! Travelling with kids – please check that you have all the relevant documents including unabridged Birth Certificates.
It’s often a good idea to let your bank or credit card company know that you’re going overseas.
