Massinga Beach Lodge - Massinga

HOTEL OVERVIEW

Perfect peace of Mozambican paradise at Massinga Beach

Far from the madding crowd, but conveniently located 90km’s up the coast from Inhambane Airport in Mozambique, Massinga Beach is perched smugly above seductive views of seemingly endless and undiscovered coastline.

The lodge, framed by palm trees and tropical bush, extends straight onto the finely-sanded shores of the Indian ocean. The tropical waters are invitation enough to dive in, but the lodge’s range of water-based leisure activities including kayaking, snorkelling and scuba-diving ensure all guests will. Land-based activities include beach games, picnics, stargazing and day-visits to lively Inhambane or the nearby Massinga village.

16 Ocean Front Deluxe Rooms each feature a king-sized bed and open out onto a private deck featuring a splash pool. The 12 Ocean View Chalets are ideal for families with two adult sleeper couches in the lounge and a separate bathroom. All include bathrooms with a free-standing bath tub, and a rain shower opening out onto the deck Two restaurants serve fresh seafood and traditional Mozambican cuisine while the Lounge Bar and Pool Deck are the perfect spots for ending the day off with a cocktail at sunset.

Useful Info

  • What To Pack

As a guide, the maximum weight for checked luggage is 20kg in economy class and 30kg in business class. Your hand-luggage should not weigh more than 6kg and needs to be small and compact.

Take along your best beach and casual wear, perfect for the day. A light rain jacket might come in handy in the event of the occasional rain shower. Sunglasses and suntan lotion are a must. Flip flops, sun hat and a beach bag. If you’re planning on adventuring around the island (there’s so much more to see and do outside of your hotel!) be sure to pack a pair of comfy walking shoes, and lots of suncream!

  • Take Your Own

Don’t forget any medication that you might need, and be sure to pack it in your hand luggage.

Chargers for all your devices (it’s a good idea to take along a few movies on a tablet or something similar as the English TV channels in your hotel may be limited).

Take along your own goggles & snorkels – even though your resort will have this equipment available free of charge or to hire, you’ll probably be happier having your own.

Mosquito repellent. An underwater camera is a great idea.

  • Travel Tips

Pack a change of clothing in your hand luggage in case of baggage delays (and a spare cozzie so at least you can have a swim when you get to your resort). No sharp objects are permitted in your hand luggage (yes, tweezers are sharp!). Put electronics, medication, toothbrushes and jewellery in your carry-on bag.

Travel insurance is a must. If you can’t afford it, you can’t afford to travel! Travelling with kids – please check that you have all the relevant documents including unabridged Birth Certificates.

It’s often a good idea to let your bank or credit card company know that you’re travelling outside of the country.
