Travessia Beach Lodge - Massinga
HOTEL OVERVIEW
Travessia is an Eco Beach Lodge that is all about understated barefoot-luxury. A mere one and a half hours drive from the airport of Inhambane, and just six kilometre of sand track away from the main road, the lodge is accessible enough for a long weekend break and yet remotely enough still to give you an instant cast-away feeling. Take a walk on thr endless wild beach, relax in the shade of the palm grove, paddle out or gaze at the sea from the small rim-flow pool, or accept an invite from the neighboring community to explore and learn. Sophisticated whilst down to earth, with no-one around for miles, Travessia is for families, individual travellers and couples alike.
A tiny lodge of just 4 charming casitas, Travessia is tucked away in the seemingly endless groves of palm trees and dunes that stretch along the Mozambican coastline between Imhambane and Vilanculos. Arriving at the lodge after a picturesque drive through the palm groves, you’ll receive a friendly greeting along with a refreshing welcome drink – then upon entering the spacious open plan restaurant and lounge area built on top of a dune, you’ll no doubt be left open-mouthed at the superb 180-degree vistas over a small palm grove in front of the lodge and the open ocean beyond!
From the main lodge building with its pool deck, bar and restaurant, raised wooden walkways lead to the 4 "casitas" dotted along the top of the dune and which have been generously spaced to offer exceptional privacy to guests. These casitas are lovely spacious rooms of wood and canvas constructed on elevated wooden decks with stunning views of the ocean! The canvas walls of the casitas almost give the feeling of being in a safari tent, whilst the rooms have been thoughtfully designed to make the most of the superb views – whether from the comfort of your bed (complete with gorgeous soft white linen and high-quality mattresses), the hammock on your deck, or even from the outdoor shower, you can spend many hours just soaking up the splendid vistas!
Powered entirely by solar, Travessia boasts excellent eco credentials too. Obviously this means that mod-cons like air-conditioning aren’t available – having said that, the lodge’s location on the top of the dunes means that they get the benefit of the cooling sea breezes.

What To Pack
As a guide, the maximum weight for checked luggage is 20kg in economy class and 30kg in business class. Your hand-luggage should not weigh more than 6kg and needs to be small and compact.
Take along your best beach and casual wear, perfect for the day. A light rain jacket might come in handy in the event of the occasional rain shower. Sunglasses and suntan lotion are a must. Flip flops, sun hat and a beach bag. If you’re planning on adventuring around the island (there’s so much more to see and do outside of your hotel!) be sure to pack a pair of comfy walking shoes, and lots of suncream!
-
Take Your Own
Don’t forget any medication that you might need, and be sure to pack it in your hand luggage.
Chargers for all your devices (it’s a good idea to take along a few movies on a tablet or something similar as the English TV channels in your hotel may be limited).
Take along your own goggles & snorkels – even though your resort will have this equipment available free of charge or to hire, you’ll probably be happier having your own.
Mosquito repellent. An underwater camera is a great idea.

Travel Tips
Pack a change of clothing in your hand luggage in case of baggage delays (and a spare cozzie so at least you can have a swim when you get to your resort). No sharp objects are permitted in your hand luggage (yes, tweezers are sharp!). Put electronics, medication, toothbrushes and jewellery in your carry-on bag.
Travel insurance is a must. If you can’t afford it, you can’t afford to travel! Travelling with kids – please check that you have all the relevant documents including unabridged Birth Certificates.
It’s often a good idea to let your bank or credit card company know that you’re travelling outside of the country.
