Veranda Pointe Aux Biches - Mauritius
HOTEL OVERVIEW
Veranda Pointe aux Biches is the perfect fantasy of what eco-chic should be: Think sandy feet, strolls along the white swatch of sand, Mauritian architecture built with rustic, raw materials, sand-floored restaurants that cater to ‘locavorism’ with great seasonal Mauritius food, colourful flora and fauna…
Situated near Grand-Baie, a vibrant beach town, the four-star family-friendly boutique hotel is ideal for the little ones (they will soon call the Kids Club their home) and their older siblings, who can sit by the big swimming pool, post to Instagram (there is free wifi throughout the hotel) while you cultivate balance and beauty at the spa. Couples seeking privacy and tranquility have access to a wing of the hotel reserved for grown-ups with its own restaurant, bar and pool.
There are 115 rooms in total at the Veranda Pointe aux Biches, all furnished in a cozy cottage-by-the-sea style with warm browns, refreshing blues and luxurious creams creating a peaceful blend of rustic charm and simple elegance. A prominent feature is the use of natural woods and fabrics and the overall effect is very restful whilst being very contemporary in style. You can choose from three types of accommodation which all offer garden, sea or pool views as well as air-con, TV’s, minibars and bathrooms with showers. And if you’re a couple looking for a more adult environment, then there is the option to opt for the Privilege Rooms (33 m²) which have been built in a separate new wing called the “Sandy Lane Village” which is also home to an adults-only pool as well as the lovely Sandy Lane restaurant.
One thing to note here is that due to the presence of rocks and corals in the lagoon, no motorized watersports are available at the Veranda Pointe aux Biches, although you can potter about to your heart’s content in the resort’s kayaks and pedal boats. Free land sports include beach volleyball, darts, tennis, table tennis and access to the fitness room.
The hotel provides two (2) rooms for disabled guests located both on the ground floor.

What To Pack
As a guide, the maximum weight for checked luggage is 20kg in economy class and 30kg in business class. Your hand-luggage should not weigh more than 6kg and needs to be small and compact.
Take along your best beach and casual wear, perfect for the day. A light rain jacket might come in handy in the event of the occasional rain shower. Sunglasses and suntan lotion are a must. Flip flops, sun hat and a beach bag. If you’re planning on adventuring around the island (there’s so much more to see and do outside of your hotel!) be sure to pack a pair of comfy walking shoes, and lots of suncream!
-
Take Your Own
Don’t forget any medication that you might need, and be sure to pack it in your hand luggage.
Chargers for all your devices (it’s a good idea to take along a few movies on a tablet or something similar as the English TV channels in your hotel may be limited).
Take along your own goggles & snorkels – even though your resort will have this equipment available free of charge or to hire, you’ll probably be happier having your own.
Mosquito repellent. An underwater camera is a great idea.

Travel Tips
Pack a change of clothing in your hand luggage in case of baggage delays (and a spare cozzie so at least you can have a swim when you get to your resort). No sharp objects are permitted in your hand luggage (yes, tweezers are sharp!). Put electronics, medication, toothbrushes and jewellery in your carry-on bag.
Travel insurance is a must. If you can’t afford it, you can’t afford to travel! Travelling with kids – please check that you have all the relevant documents including unabridged Birth Certificates.
It’s often a good idea to let your bank or credit card company know that you’re going overseas.
