White sandy beaches, palm trees and the Indian Ocean as far as you can see, that’s Matemwe in north-eastern Zanzibar. The small village is loved by locals and travellers for its seemingly never-ending wide and romantic beach. Matemwe is a right spot if you want to relax, long to hold a book in one hand and a drink in the other, you have found your dream destination. Arriving at Zanzibar Pearl you'll walk up the sandy path to the large central open-sided thatched structure which is the heart of the hotel and provides the lounge area, with curved cement benches scattered with cushions. Just past this is the restaurant and bar, with wooden tables overlooking the pretty beach below. The small reception office is here, together with a gift shop selling locally produced handicrafts and souvenirs.

Zanzibar Pearl is located directly on the sea front with an amazing tropical garden. It's not just a place to visit, but home away from home. The owners really focus in giving attention to every little thing, as no detail is too small to escape close attention. Zanzibar Pearl has the longest beach front in Matemwe – 250 meters long with 24 rooms sitting on a 39000 sqm piece of land. Here, the team of staff follow the heritage tradition and combine talent, creativity and passion with the island’s famous spices.

The 31 rooms / villas are inspired by local architecture and consist of: 10 Pearl Suites, 1 Pearl Villa, 8 Oyster Suites, 5 Oyster Villas, 6 Deluxe Pearle Suites (new additions) and 1 Villa Lulu (new addition). The Villas are oceanfront, the Deluxe Pearl Suites are spacious and have sea views with pool view and air-conditioning, and the Oyster Suites and villas overlook the luxuriant tropical gardens. Large beds with crisp white linen are draped in silk-edged mosquito nets. The neutral décor is broken up by primary-coloured cushions, fresh flowers and local art. Despite being fairly simple all the rooms are comfortable and stylish, with everything you need, and nothing you don't. They’re equipped with a ceiling and a free-standing fan and tea- and coffee-making facilities. The cement-floored bathrooms are bright and airy and you'll find fluffy white towels and complimentary toiletries, as well as bath robes and sun hats.
