Zilwa Attitude - Mauritius
HOTEL OVERVIEW
Located in the north of Mauritius near the fishing village of Grand Gaube, perched on the edge of a lagoon facing the north islands, the 4* Zilwa Attitude hotel welcomes you. In Creole, “Zilwa” means islander, and this is the experience offered to you: an immersion in the heart of authentic Mauritius and an opportunity to live like an islander during your stay in this little corner of paradise bordering the ocean.
Mauritian thatched architecture has been combined with contemporary design to create a cool vibe, and a beautiful view of the sloping Coin de Mire island, viewed across the swimming pool on arrival, gives a wow factor. As a relatively new build, it effortlessly combines couples and families in the same space, and a central hub of restaurants and bars, makes it feel intimate and friendly.
Service is confident, kind and attentive here. Zilwa has generous facilities, including four great pools with palm islands, open-air cinema, PADI dive centre and its own catamaran, and a spa offering a sunset Mauritian massage on nearby Ti Zil island.
Set in crescent-shaped buildings facing the sea, the rustic rooms are chic with rough-hewn walls, wax-coated floors and driftwood-inspired furniture. Room are also patriotic with the red, blue, yellow and green of the Mauritian flag featuring. There's also Creole riddles on the wall, as well as art work and poetry inspired by Mauritian artist, Malcolm de Chazal. Pink and purple flip flops make a useful room gift. The Privilege Suites have a whirlpool tub on the balcony. There are also three categories of family rooms.
The seven restaurants range from Chinese and Mauritian cuisine to a romantic beachside à la carte. The highlight is a simple barbecue lunch on Gran Zil private island (included when you book on all-inclusive), where drinks are served in ceramic mugs in the sea and octopus curry is ladled from traditional pots on the ground. The beach bar occupies a former fisherman's boat, and is a relaxed spot for a cocktail.

What To Pack
As a guide, the maximum weight for checked luggage is 20kg in economy class and 30kg in business class. Your hand-luggage should not weigh more than 6kg and needs to be small and compact.
Take along your best beach and casual wear, perfect for the day. A light rain jacket might come in handy in the event of the occasional rain shower. Sunglasses and suntan lotion are a must. Flip flops, sun hat and a beach bag. If you’re planning on adventuring around the island (there’s so much more to see and do outside of your hotel!) be sure to pack a pair of comfy walking shoes, and lots of suncream!
-
Take Your Own
Don’t forget any medication that you might need, and be sure to pack it in your hand luggage.
Chargers for all your devices (it’s a good idea to take along a few movies on a tablet or something similar as the English TV channels in your hotel may be limited).
Take along your own goggles & snorkels – even though your resort will have this equipment available free of charge or to hire, you’ll probably be happier having your own.
Mosquito repellent. An underwater camera is a great idea.

Travel Tips
Pack a change of clothing in your hand luggage in case of baggage delays (and a spare cozzie so at least you can have a swim when you get to your resort). No sharp objects are permitted in your hand luggage (yes, tweezers are sharp!). Put electronics, medication, toothbrushes and jewellery in your carry-on bag.
Travel insurance is a must. If you can’t afford it, you can’t afford to travel! Travelling with kids – please check that you have all the relevant documents including unabridged Birth Certificates.
It’s often a good idea to let your bank or credit card company know that you’re going overseas.
